Common Blue Violet is a hardy native perennial with tight habit and wooly blue-green heart-shaped foliage. The fragrant flowers are usually blue-purple, but may be white with purple veining, and bloom heavily in early spring and may continue intermittently through summer. Prefers full sun and moist well-drained soils. Freely self-seeds in ideal conditions. Tolerates wet soils and black walnut.
