Red Arrow Culver's Root is a tall upright native herbaceous perennial with erect stalks and whorls of dark green lance shaped leaves.  Long slender raceme of dense deep red buds go up in late spring and open to lilac flowers in mid to late summer, and can experience another bloom in fall if deadheaded. Prefers afternoon shade in the South and moist to wet well-drained soil.

Veronicastrum virginicum is a host for the Culver's Root Borer Moth and provides nectar for several butterflies and bees.
