Flowering Raspberry is a large native suckering deciduous shrub without prickles that is more ornamental than fruiting, with maple like leaves that turn yellow in fall. The fragrant rose-purple flowers bloom from late spring to mid summer. These are followed by red fruits that are edible, but dry and but somewhat unappetizing. Grows best in full sun and rich, moist, slightly acidic well-drained soils.
