Smoking Gun Switch Grass is a native warm-season ornamental grass with a strongly upright habit and fine green foliage with a smoky quality that turns tan in fall. In summer stems holding airy clusters create a cloud of tiny, tan flowers above the foliage in late sumemr which persist through winter. Prefers part sun and moist well-drained soils.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS: Low maintenance plant. Too much shade will lose its upright form. Beetles and mites are occasional problems. Root and crown rot may occur in poorly drained soils. Some susceptibility to rust.
