A specialized, water-soluble fertilizer formulated to produce lush leaves and enhance or maintain the blue color in bigleaf (macrophylla) and mountain (serrata) hydrangeas. It combines essential plant nutrients with aluminum sulfate to create the acidic soil conditions needed for blue blooms.
How It Works
- Color Enhancement: The aluminum sulfate lowers soil pH and provides the aluminum necessary for hydrangea petals to turn vibrant blue.
- Key Scenarios: It is highly beneficial if your hydrangeas are planted near a concrete foundation (which leaches lime and makes soil alkaline) or in regions with high-alkalinity soil.
- Limitations: It will not change the color of white hydrangea varieties, nor will it work on panicle or smooth hydrangeas that are naturally white or pink.
