Alocasia

Alocasia is a tropical, tuberous perennial known for large, dramatic, heart- or arrow-shaped leaves often called "elephant ears".

  • Inconspicuous flowers Spring and Summer, some lasting until Fall
  • Flowers are a white-to-yellowish spadix encased in a pale green or light-colored spathe 
  • Foliage with colors ranging from deep emerald green and blackish-purple to metallic silvery-grey
  • Indirect light, don't usually like direct sun
  • Often avoided by deer
  • Attracts pollinators
